Each of the Community Foundations in Eastern England is delivering the Grassroots Programme. There will be almost £6.8m in small grants and some £26m in endowment raised, if the programme is successful - and you can help. Small grantsGroups, working to improve the quality of life for people, can now access up to £5,000 of small grant funding, provided they have been in existence for a year, have a below £30,000 turnover and have a constitution and two signatory bank account. Double your money - the Endowment Challenge In these straitened times, giving donations is never easy - but how many organisations can offer to double - or more - your donation? Each of the Community Foundations in Eastern England is running an Endowment Challenge on behalf of the UK government. Up to 31 March 2011, and within certain limits, anyone giving money can have that donation doubled. If the person is a UK tax payer, then Gift Aid may be claimable and, if so, then the donation is doubled AFTER adding in the gift aid. |
What this can mean A person donates £5,000. Gift aid of £1,400 is added, making this £6,400 (as the rules currently apply). This is matched under the Challenge, making the overall Fund created, £12,800. If the person pays tax at 40%, the additional money claimed makes the net cost to the tax payer, £3,750, giving an overall return of 341%! And all for a really good cause... local people.
